The HPS90MA is a 90 mm square-flange planetary gearbox that fits between a NEMA stepper or a small servo motor and the axis it drives. It drops the motor speed by 4:1 to 70:1 and lifts output torque to 100 N·m, with backlash held to 10 arcmin or less and efficiency at 96%. Body length is 110 mm for the single-stage units and 132.5 mm for the two-stage units, and the whole gearbox weighs 2.9 kg.
How to pick the size for your axis
Read the torque table before the ratio table
Torque does not climb steadily with ratio on this series. The 4:1 unit is rated 80 N·m, the 7:1 unit only 60 N·m, and the 10:1 unit 39 N·m - then the two-stage models jump back up to 90–100 N·m. Pick the model whose rated torque clears your heaviest steady load, not the ratio that sounds right.
Two stages cost you only 22.5 mm of length
L1 bodies are 110 mm and L2 bodies are 132.5 mm - the same 90 mm flange and the same shaft, so a two-stage unit drops into the same bracket. If the axis needs both a high ratio and high torque, there is little reason to stay single-stage.
Match the flange to the motor already on the bench
The published motor interface is ⌀19-40 / ⌀70-3 / ⌀90-M6, and a released example is HPS90MA-L2-25-19-70-90-M5. Send us the motor drawing and we confirm the input bore, stop diameter and bolt circle against it before the order is released.
Check backlash against what the axis actually does
At 10 arcmin this is a general-purpose positioning gearbox. It suits feeding, indexing and pick-and-place travel. If the axis reverses thousands of times an hour, or the tolerance is measured in single arcminutes, say so - we will tell you what a tighter grade costs rather than let you find out on the machine.

Reading the model code and the flange
A released unit is stamped HPS90MA-L2-25-19-70-90-M5: HPS90MA frame, two stages (L2), ratio 25:1, 19 mm input bore, 70 mm stop diameter, 90 mm bolt circle, M5 fixing screws. The frame is 90 mm square with 4 × ⌀6.5 through holes and M6 × 16 threads; the output shaft is ⌀19 with a 6 mm flat key on a 22.5 mm shaft end.
